New Shed Update
Updated 04/05/2010
For the information of members this is where we are up to in relation to the shed redevelopment,
· Demolition has been completed
· Concrete cutting of the existing slab has been completed to allow excavation for the foundations
· The cut concrete sections will be removed this week and the old sewer pit back filled
· The timber trusses and recovered timber will be removed this week
· The steelwork / columns for the ground floor and the new steel roof trusses have been completed off site will be delivered to site this week.
· The survey set out for the new building will be done on Friday of this coming week
· Excavation for the foundations is scheduled to commence Monday of next week ( 10th May )
· Manufacture of the tilt panels is progressing well with 15 of the 21 panels complete / or currently under manufacture
· It is scheduled to stand and prop the panels on the 25th May following installation and curing of the foundations
The work following the standing of the panels includes:
· Installation of the Shelf Angle for the first floor concrete Slab
· Form, reinforce and pour the first Floor slab
· Install stair way
· Remove props under the first floor ( after concrete curing )
· Install Roof and windows
· Install Roller Doors and entry doors
· Install Boat Racks
· Fit out upstairs
We are working to have the shed completed to a stage to be able to store boats as a first priority and then continue with the fit out after ( or in parallel with that ).
While there may be small gaps in activities on the boat shed site from time to time - there is a lot of activity going on off site
I hope this summary will give you an idea of the general sequence of activities that will be happening over the next couple of months. We have deliberately not put any completion dates in the above, as we want to be a little further down the track before committing to a “ boats back in “ date – however it is our highest priority to be operating out of our own shed as soon as possible.
If there are any issues or concerns I can be contacted on 0417 569610 or via e –mail at any time

I have to thank all those members who have assisted with the cleaning, removal and packing of equipment form the shed over the last few weeks as without this assistance the project would not be going ahead as planned.
95% of all the materials in the shed will be recycled by the demolition company.
At the moment we are exactly on schedule with the project and have only come across a few minor hurdles. These have been overcome by the Building Sub Committee which are doing a fantastic job and will continue to work tirelessly on the project.
The club will still be running on the water with the assistance of Geelong Grammar and The Geelong College as we have some of our boats stored in these sheds. If you require access to the equipment contact myself or Sam Elliott and that can be arranged. The codes of these sheds won't be issued to members as it imperative that we look after these sheds as they also have a lot of school equipment still stored in and if we inadvertently leave a shed open we will be responsible.
Again thanks to all members who are assiting with this project and it is now powering ahead. We will be sending out updates of the development via e-mail and the newsletter and photos will be placed on the web site.
If anyone has any questions or issues with the building project or the club in general I can be contacted on 0417 569 610 or via email at president@barwonrc.asn.au.
